"The perfect child" is our resident chocolate lab. She's small but mighty and is up for anything! Echo brings the cute, the charm, and the perfection to everything she does. She's the dog that makes you want 10 more, and we love her for it!

Echo was the dream born of the loss of my childhood dog, "Jojo" (Georgia), a newspaper-ad chocolate lab my dad bought us with the cash he had set aside for his annual elk hunting trip. We dreamed of turning Jojo into a hunting dog (with little training - it's all about natural ability, right? Oh, the wisdom experience gives you...) That dream was quickly put away after she told us "feathers are gross" on multiple hunts. In fact, it took her 11 years to retrieve her first bird. I had shot a ruffie a little far back, watched it fly up and just remembered yelling "Get it Jo!" as if she had ever "got" a bird... but then I watched that frosted chocolate beauty launch vertically, like she would when she was a pup, and snatch the bird out of the air on its descent. She promptly ran back to me and dropped the bird at my feet. I screamed and cried, and then somehow, we did it one more time that afternoon. I was so proud. And I knew from that moment on, any dog I had in the future would be a "real" bird dog.

Jojo was one of the good ones, and I knew there was no replacing her, but Echo's call name "Echo Georgia, Girl!" was meant to encourage her to take on that loving, spunky, wholesome energy our Jojo had.

Lucky for me, Echo turned out just as sweet, twice as spunky, and everything I could hope her to be. Although she was a covid pup, she is well-socialized, versatile, strong, and smart.

Echo has been dabbling in the altered ring. She's clearly a more field-bred representation of the breed, but she has an absolute blast in the ring and has even earned a point towards her altered championship!
